In 1969, Robert Redford purchased land in Utah's Wasatch Mountains below mount Timpanogos. Rather than transforming the canyon into a region of resort hotels on the advice of investors, Redford chose to maintain the pristine quality that had first attracted him to the region. Since then, the annual Sundance Film Festival, Sundance Institute, and countless local independent spirits, the village has become a thriving artist community- much in line with Redford's initial vision.
Each year many festival goers return home dismayed that the beautiful handmade jewelry seen in the village cannot be found in their hometown. In response to demand, Robert Redford and several colleagues created an online catalogue, selling local artist sundance jewelry on the Internet.
